SmartCare Community Paramedicine serves as an enhancement to the current healthcare system, wherein specially trained senior paramedics make home visits to patients and act as a direct link to each patient’s Primary Care Physician. The program stays within the scope of practice of what paramedics currently do each day in the back of an ambulance, but transfers those clinical capabilities to treating patients within their own environments. Ultimately, the patient benefits by having direct access to a trained paramedic within the comforts of their home; the healthcare system benefits by avoiding costly Emergency Room visits for those patients whose health concerns do not require emergency response.
